Our Story
Gold House is a family business founded by a first generation pawnbroker in the early 2000s. The founders own father was an avid pawnshop customer in England during WWII. During which period he would pawn his own suit to cover his short term cash needs and collect it on Sundays prior to church. These stories from his late father led the founder to start his own pawnshop.
Since inception, Gold House has had a simple mission, provide discreet, fast and efficient ways to safely and securely unlock the value in items for individuals and businesses through a luxury selling and lending approach.
This mission also included selling pre-loved luxury items into the New Zealand market with the guarantees of authenticity backed by a trusted brand name and one of the most high end bricks and mortar pawnshop experiences in the world.
Gold House has upcycled tens of thousands of pre-loved luxury items to this day, continuing it’s efforts to minimize our environmental footprint. We take pride in being pre-loved, clean kiwis, with an aim and continuation to foster a circular fashion economy for a sustainable future.
With his sons, the founder of Gold House continues to offer the same pawnbroking services used by his father in WWII. With a revolutionised and transparent business approach, Gold House continues to be the market leader in luxury item lending, buying and selling.

Can I layby an item that I’ve seen online?
Yes, you can layby any item seen online by completing the forms and paying a deposit.
I’ve seen an item online, can I view it in-store?
Yes, all items listed for sale online can be viewed in-store. Some high value luxury items are stored at the back of the store or in timed safes and will require a request for viewing through store management when at store level.
I have seen an item online but it is no longer there?
Some of our most popular items sell out quickly, please check back soon as we add many new luxury items each week.
Is there a warranty on the item?
All jewellery and designer pieces come with an authenticity guarantee.
How do I use a discount code?
Please type your discount code into the coupon box on the cart page and click ‘Apply Coupon’. Please enter the code exactly as it appears in your email, e.g. using capital letters or numbers. If your code is not correctly entered on the cart page, we cannot apply the discount or credit afterwards, and you will be charged the full price for your order.

Loaning your items with Gold House is a fast, simple, secure and effective way of solving your short term cash needs. All you need is an item of value to use as collateral. There are no credit checks, the process generally takes less than 5 minutes, and you get cash on the spot, all without having to sell your goods.
Can I get a quote on the value of my items without coming to store?
Yes, Gold House offer online quotes in order for customers to understand the value of their items when loaning or selling, prior to coming to store. See our quote form here
How are my loaned items stored?
All loaned items are stored securely in a safe, storage facilities or shop storage areas, under 24 hour, 7 day a week monitoring and camera surveillance.
What items do you accept for loans?

How does consignment work?
Gold House offer no-obligation free appraisals on all items of value. Consigning with Gold House means we will handle the entire sale process of your items for you. We’ll then use our brand and marketing to generate exposure for your item both online and in-store. When your item is sold, we’ll promptly bank transfer your agreed profits to you.
